KNO’s Collaborative Statement on Anti Drug Proliferation of KIO’s 5th October, 2010 Announcement

Official Statement

27th October 2010

1. The progress of civilization in every society rests on the shoulders of its youth. Every generation faces the challenge and responsibility of fulfilling personal development in the wisdom and virtue of Physical well being, Intellectual knowledge, Moral character, Friendship forming, and Material wealth building. These traits and characteristics are learned, developed, acquired and inherited.

2. In recognition of these developmental assets the government in every society must take   pride of greatness in encouraging, inspiring, educating and protecting its youth. In this endeavor each society has duty to safeguard against those who undertake the task of destroying the youth with the purpose of controlling their society.

3. In Burma, particularly in Kachin State the number one destroyer of youth is drug. In the absence government regulation and prohibition the illicit drug trade is rampant. The SPDC has no drug policy and if it has it is that of creating a climate of free drug trade.

4. The SPDC Military government is in the business of promoting drug proliferation in order to wage a silent war against us in the destruction of our youth. The aim is to impede the coming generation from assuming leadership role for its people and in way the Military will continue to rule permanently.

5. On October 5, the KIO council issued a directive to name narcotic as the principal enemy of the people and declared that from October 15, 2010 narcotic will no longer be consumed or traded in the State under the most stringent drug eradication law. It is, in this way, the society will be able to pursue the aforementioned wisdom and virtue of human development.

6. The KIO drug eradication enforcement will need the cooperation and understanding of the people who have been exposed and affected by free drug trade. A successful implementation of this program will depend largely on the support and guidance from the UN and countries around the world that share this human tragedy.
